In Person Sessions

Enjoy educational play in the comfort of your own home!

With in-person play sessions students can play games, create mathematical art, use hands on manipulatives, and pursue enrichment mathematics on a variety of topics including:  the Fibonacci Sequence, Infinity, Fractals, Origami Math, Cryptography, Topology, the Platonic Solids, Compass Constructions, Deductive Logic, Symmetry... Or an area of your choosing!  

In addition, many of these topics can include suggestions for at home art projects and games to play with the whole family! All projects listed on the Rainbow Math Party section of my website are available as one on one in person sessions as well.

With Math Magic Labs, I strive to create a safe space for motivated learners of any age, any gender or orientation, any level of experience, and any unique expression of neurology who would like to engage in mathematical exploration.  

I believe that there is no such thing as a neurotypical mind and that all brains are as unique as snowflakes.  I operate from the worldview that emotionally safe, fun, and logical mathematical exploration is as fundamental of a need for humans as food and water… Something we all need to flourish!

If you are looking for a compassionate, creative, experienced, and knowledgeable friend to help you or someone you love reach their highest potential with mathematics, then you have come to the right place!  I believe mathematics can be taught in a clear, creative, and fun way and I strive to make every session as enjoyable and educational as possible.  

Every service I offer is individually tailored to each learner and no two sessions are ever the same.  Whether just learning to count or taking on calculus I can help you understand your unique learning process and show you how to apply that knowledge for success in and outside the classroom. 

My teaching techniques are based off of educational neuroscience research as well as over ten years experience as an educator.  Sessions can be utilized in a variety of ways.  Students can receive one on one coaching for school homework, projects, test preparations, and math clubs. Students can receive individual instruction on any level of mathematics from Pre-K through College Level.  

Policies and Procedures:

Please ensure that the student has all textbooks, worksheets, logins, devices, etc that they need in order for us to maximize the usefulness of our time.  If students come without an agenda or materials, I can always provide both. 

All sessions must be pre-paid a minimum of 72 hours before the scheduled session.  If an invoice for a session has not been paid 72 hours before a scheduled session, the spot will be given to the next paying client.  Package or individual session prices are non-refundable in the event of cancellation.  Fees paid towards in person sessions are not transferable to other services offered.  Payment for services to Flux Rutherford or Math Magic Labs implies consent to all policies listed here.

Sessions purchased as a part of a package may be rescheduled to a new date within two weeks of the date originally booked as my schedule allows.  Requests for schedule changes must be received via email no later than 11:59pm on the Sunday preceding the session in question.  Sessions purchased as a part of a package must be used by the end of the school year in which it was purchased unless otherwise arranged at the time of payment. 

A reminder email will be sent prior to your scheduled session to ask for your confirmation that the student will be attending the session.  I reserve the right to cancel the session with no refund if I receive no response to this email one hour before the start time of the booked session.  If the student is more than 10 minutes late to a session without contacting me via email, voice call, or text message, the session is considered cancelled and will not be able to be refunded or rescheduled.
